Lagoon Birds Brochure Painting by Alice Goodkind The Friends have published a color pamphlet that will enable the public to identify birds in the San Dieguito Lagoon. A map gives directions to the habitats of the Lagoon: open water, southern coastal salt marsh, riparian willow scrub and coastal sage scrub on the hillside, and identifies sites favored by birds. The pamphlet shows 58 birds, including egrets and shore birds, ducks, gulls, terns and birds of prey. Letter codes indicate the months when each species can be observed as well as their abundance.
